All Stars

The All Stars classroom is the School-Age classroom at SCDC. Children may enter the All Star room when they are 5 years old and enrolled in Kindergarten up to 12 years old.

The All Stars room offers a before and after school care program as well as summer and vacation programs. The classroom schedule aligns with East Valley School District’s breaks and in-service days, including East Valley CCS.

Before and after school curriculum is designed to offer children a time to create art projects and work on homework in the morning before school and a time to play and complete their homework after school. Curriculum is created around a weekly theme. Teachers plan projects, change out centers and plan activities that correlate with the weekly theme but still leave time and a table designated for homework. Outside group activities and play are planned daily.

The All Stars room offers a variety of games and equipment that are age appropriate and that encourage learning and discovery. Children are encouraged to think about the future and to express what they enjoy and who they want to become as they get older. Children are expected to be independent and are encouraged to become problem solvers. They are taught how to express their feelings, how to handle stress and deal with criticism from their peers through the encouragement of their teachers. There is a balance between the need for the children to relax after school and the push to complete their homework so there is more time for family when they leave the center.
