Explorers 15 months – 30-36 months

In our Explorer room, our teachers have a strong understanding of the growing toddler. Each day is spent fostering the growth of the individual child as they learn and grow together. Because toddlers are learning at such a fast past, the teachers keep their day moving by planning plenty of activities in all developmental areas and make them exciting, fun, and hands on. Our teachers also know and understand that a toddlers needs may change quickly and are ready to adapt and make changes in the classroom to accommodate the needs of the children. Our Explorer classroom is equipped with developmentally appropriate materials and equipment to enable the children to learn and grow.  Learning experiences are planned to promote the toddler’s growing independence, to enhance social skills, and to build the confidence needed to reach their individual potential and prepare for preschool and beyond.  To enhance the children’s physical development, large motor muscle play is available both morning and afternoon in the Explorer room indoor gym.  They also play outside on the large, fenced playground that was built especially for younger children.  There are also numerous opportunities for music and movement in the classroom throughout the day.

We believe that to serve very young children well, we must develop a meaningful partnership with their families. Families are always welcome and are encouraged to spend time in the classroom if they can.  Our toddler teachers take time to talk with families each day.  They also fill out daily charts that let families know exactly what went on with the children throughout the day so that care can be continued at home.
